Help turn off data on vacation?

Just got a Fascinate yesterday, spent today getting it up and running.

My newbie question is this.. I am headed to Cancun on vacation and want to manually turn the data off. I can't find where to do that. I can find data roaming.

I came from a Droid Incredible and I actually could turn the mobile data off


Can someone help me?

You can turn on Airplane mode. It turns off all the radio's (Data and Cell) but allows you to still use WiFi.

I want to keep the cell part on and wifi. Just want to turn off Data for a week. International Data packages weren't cheap,

What do you hit in there I would like to turn off data like 3g but keep cell on too at night since my battery gets drained looking for signal I need cell thouh

Juice Defender is an app that can do what you want, but you need root

Apndroid 2.5 beta works just for what you want. I turn mine off at night and loss only 1-2% of battery. I have the apk if you need it.

If you turn off the data roaming, then when you get to Cancun your phone won't use the towers down there for data usage. It's essentially the same thing as turning off the data connection.

So you know, a data package isn't that expensive. The regular USA plan is $30/mo. The international one is $70/mo. You could turn it on for one month and only be out $40.

Additionally, if you have wifi where you are staying, you may want to consider a voip app to make calls. Something like Fring or SIPdroid. You can call back to the USA for $.02/min instead of $2/min.

Even better, I just got back from Cancun 3 weeks ago. I got international data for 5 days, and called and had it turned off when I got back. Total: $9.00 charge on my bill. You don't have to subscribe to international data for the whole month. Only for the days you need it. Have fun, and don't drink the water.
