turn off wifi when leaving wifi area!!

I couldnt figure out why my battery was dying so fast. I had my wifi set to on from my house but when leaving it would naturally switch to 3g.If you dont turn off wifi then it will keep looking for a signal significally wasting battery. so make sure to turn it off when leaving your wifi spot!!!

Depending on your service area, CDMA (1x) service will also save your battery life, as EvDo (3g) is a battery's worst nightmare.

I switch to (1x) CDMA when I am doing light browsing while working.

You can also download an app called Tasker (and I think automateIt has the same functionality) to turn off your wifi at a certain time. I have a profile to turn on wifi from the time I get home to the time I go to the work M-F. Works like a charm.

thats interesting. yesterday a couple of instances my phone switched from 3g to 1x. i read that it means it was roaming or something. but the thing is while in 1x my phone and texting had great service. but NO internet.. so how did you browse while in 1x.. thanks!!

1x just means a different type of cell tower connection. If you had no internet while in this mode, and it also kept switching, then that could mean a cell tower was down in your area.

Generally speaking, 1X also can run DATA service without problem except slow speed. But I cannot find the the areas only coverage with 1x to test how slow is. becasue my phone always keep on 3G when data.
