Help Turned off then back on, now no signal

Morning guys, just popped over from the DHD forum (be gentle with me) had a bit of a search but cant find a sulution to my mates problem. He tried to send a text today and it refused to go so he turned off his phone then back on and now has a sign saying "no service".

Any thoughts on the problem appreciated.

Have you tried taking the battery and SIM out, leaving the phone for half a minute and then piecing it back together again?
