Help turning off notifications

recently got a HTC desire. however i keep get notifications for emails, calender and other things. Is there anyway to set notifications only for text messages? all i want is for texts ?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, Mr Jinx.

Disable "autosync" in menu > settings > accounts and sync. That will take care of Gmail and Calendar, so you can go in and manually sync at will.

Then go into the messaging app and hit menu > settings. Be sure the "notifications" box is checked if you want notifications of sms.

How about disabling the Bluetooth authorisation notification? Every time I transfer a file from a paired device I have to accept it. Is there a way to stop this?
