[TUTORIAL] How to root the SM-T337A Lollipop with Kingroot

In this tutorial, I will show you how to root your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 AT&T (SM-T337A) For this tutorial specifically, we will be rooting with the KingRoot apk instead of KingRoot PC because that tends to put devices that are still running off stock firmware into boot-loops (I speak from experience). I did some research on it and it can mess with the kernel a good bit (If done incorrectly or your device isn't properly supported yet. Or something like that), requiring you to flash the device's firmware to get back into a working condition.

Disclaimer: As usual with modifying Android software, there's always the small risk that your device might get messed up in some way. Just know that I will NOT be held responsible for any damage your device may or may not suffer.

Tip: If you own an SM-T337A and can't find/don't have the lollipop firmware for the device, you can get it from my post at the end of this thread.

Step 1: Go to the end of this post and download the KingRoot apk and install it onto your device, via adb or on your device itself. (If you're in a situation where you need to flash the firmware, follow the tip above, afterwards, follow step 1)

Step 2: Run the KingRoot app and go through the steps your device gives in order to fully root your device, if afterwards the app says you have a low security index score, it is not required, but recommended to tend to those 'problems'.

Note: With this method, you will need to go through step 2 again to have root access again since this is a temp root method. I think that's the only small yellow flag with this method. It will eventually dispatch itself as a system app therefore giving you permanent root, but that takes some time to happen.

-That's it, your device has been rooted and KNOX will not be tripped.

Best of luck to you and I hope I helped anyone out with rooting their SM-T337A. Please feel free to leave a comment below, and if you encountered any problems while following this tutorial, please don't hesitate to ask for help down below, just know I might not see it right away.

Edit: As of right now, I have successfully rooted the device with SuperSU but it's a temp root, so I'm going to work on a permanent SuperSU file for it.

KingOfTheNet, I was wondering if this root method will work on my Samsung Galaxy Tab E. It is a SM-T377A also through AT&T. Thanks!

If the tablets model no is SM-T377A, then I don't think this method will work for you. Another thing you can look at is the list of compatible devices on the king root website. I've never used a Galaxy Tab E before. I've always used devices under the Galaxy S#, Galaxy Tab#, and i've used the at&t variant of the Galaxy Alpha, so i'm not completely sure. If you can, assuming you know how, boot your device into download mode and take a small picture of the model number located on the top left so I know for sure that the model numbers match. Thx

Edit: Just now noticed your tablets model no was a T377A not a T337A, lol. Unfortunately, I do not think this method will root for you. However, there are many older versions of KingRoot that might support your device. Try at your own risk!

- Good luck to you!

The model number is 6.0.1/MMB29K/T377AUCU2APJ2. I looked on the King Root website & it does not support my Tab. I am not sure I want to try it unless I know it will work for me. Thank you so much for your help in this. I really do appreciate it.

I'm sorry this method failed for you. There maybe another solution for you though, there are many older versions of KingRoot that might support your device. Try at your own risk!
