i use a window 7 windows 8 work fine but in my mac book pro i cant get it to work but im ok at least no issue on windows thanks junkie u did a great job with the installer u are the man. mr junkie

well, mac os doesnt use drivers for it first of all, and this root method doesnt work with mac either, you would need the conversion i made and im still not 100% sure how well that works though im pretty sure its functional. i dont have a mac tho, never have never will unless someone gave me one free in which case it would be running windows and linux not mac os lol

this installer isnt mine tho, the root method is the work of doomlord, and i wasnt even the one who discovered it, it was around before any of my work

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1asljgo7o26p8zy/linux_mac_and_windows_rooter.zip
that includes this method as well as a mac version as well as a linux version of the root scripts, someone should probably test them out tho see if it actually functions right, im not exactly an expert with bash script so i do make the occasional mistake

edit
like i said im no expert, just made the eol conversion, making it compatible with unix based systems, meaning it should work now and they have been chmodded to be executable, so you should be able to use them just as you would the windows one. download, unpack, and double click running them in the terminal

i better keep the mac for the muisic in the studio longest the windows pc work im ok but anyway junkie u have done great things for this phone and help a lot of people thanks brother

Worked for me on the first try. I got the adb out of date error but it still went through. I just bought this phone last night. still toying with it. anyone got a good custom rom recommendation?

there are two different things labeled awesome android. one of them is the one based on stock, that is the one for daily use, you were probably looking at aokp which has alot of issues because its using the same basic code as cm10

I think I'm doing something very wrong. When I run the script, It puts my phone into a reboot loop, and fixes itself if I go into the recovery menu, even if I do nothing. It has happened twice. I'm fairly certain it's because I'm on b07 and my previous phone was on b09. I don't want to upgrade as I want to snag the update.zip from my cache, so I have it if I mess up again.

EDIT: Updated my phone. Same results. It also has slowed down significantly, and some apps aren't opening. Here is what it said when I tried it.

(will remove Google Maps if required)

CONFIRM ALL THE ABOVE THEN
Press any key to continue . . .

if it gets stuck over here for a long time then try:
disconnect usb cable and reconnect it
toggle "USB DEBUGGING" (first disable it then enable it)

EDIT2: factory resetting it seemed to have fixed it. I have a feeling that adb isn't configured right.

it would seem its getting hung up, it should be rebooted one last time at that point and allowed to finish the third step of the process. try doing a factory data reset first. then make sure to re-enable usb debugging and unknown sources

The issue with rooting is that every time I do it, it seems to go into a reboot loop. I didn't have this issue on my old phone, so I'm guessing that my phone is just not compatible with this exploit, unfortunately.

well, the boot loop would signify to me that its not removing the file properly in the end, because the exploit causes the phone to malfunction giving us access to the root and nothing else, installs the necessary components for regular root, then removes the file that caused it to malfunction. apparently your malfunction is malfunctioning lol. sorry its not really funny but that seems like a silly thing to say. i dunno what to tell you tho, if you cant get it to work after a factory reset i dunno what to tell you really

just umm, make sure that you dont unplug when it says if it gets hung up and what not, that could cause more problems, always try to let it go through the process without unplugging

I tried it again, and got root after more reboots than I though were supposed to happen. I will now install CWM and make sure it sticks several times before trying to install any roms. I should use ROM manager to install CWM, correct?

I tried to use ROM Manager to install CWM. It wouldn't stick. I would reboot into recovery and be greeted with stock recovery even though RM said it was successful.

I ended up installing Clockwork Mod Touch through ADB, which worked great.

Try it. If RM fails, be prepared to look up how to install it in an alternative way. (ADB, Terminal Emulator, etc...)

I think mine may have stuck. I will spend the next 20 minutes testing it to see if it worked, though. You figure 28 reboots should give me a firm result? In all seriousness, though, I think that the two I have done is enough. Hopefully.
EDIT: I should mention that I did the yes option when exiting. It was saying something about how the ROM may revert to the stock recovery and if I wanted to disable that. I don't know if I effed up or if I did it correctly. Don't take my advice until someone who actually knows what they are doing confirms that I did what I should have done, though.

rom manager has been found to not work on our phones for whatever reason. but my auto installer is said to work for most, youll know if cwm is installed by the fact that it will look different, most obvious is the background, but also you can tell by the fact that it will say clockworkmod at the top and bottom

Rom manager has been found to work on my phone for whatever reason. On my other phone, the auto installed didn't seem to work. It says Clockworkmod on both, and it has loaded up several times. I'm about 96% sure that it has worked. It's has 2 distorted looking droids on either side when it loads up, so I'm assuming that I have it permanent, as it just loaded up when I tested it right now.
