This should not be. How do you know you don't have root?

Does this method give NAND access to use Fresh Rom's? Because i tried installing his, and i get a constant reboot screen.

This does not involve unlocking NAND yet. I will have a full version up Sunday or Monday. Only Fresh .3 requires NAND unlocked, so you should try .2 until then. Sorry for the delay, but I'm on vacation.

No apologies needed. You're work (and others') is invaluable around here...i can be patient.

I'm trying it manually...we'll see what happens.

You didn't install the radio update, again like I wrote above I call this step 33.5 you need to copy the file to your SD card just like the other files, but before you choose your ROM, select the radio.zip, after it installs navigate back to your menu (can't describe, but easy enough I figured it out first time try) then select your rom and install it. BAM! You should have a new ROM installed now.

I used both methods to try to boot into recovery. I keep getting the red yield sign with the exclamation point. Suggestions?

if you are seeing that sign you need to press and hold up on the volume and push (but not hold) the power button

I've been trying to get this done, at the point in 'root part 2' just starting where it says to boot into recovery and do a nandroid backup. I did get it to boot into recovery but don't know how to do a nandroid backup. It just says to do it, doesn't say how and didn't see anything in that recovery menu that was obvious. Looks really easy once I know how to get that done.

So, now this is where i get confused. The ROM appears to have installed properly and browsing thru my apps i found the "Superuser Permissions." So I'm assuming it rooted. But when I loaded TB to restore apps, first thing it said was, "Sorry, I don't have permission (root) to run this application. "

boot into recovery and go to update.zip and press the power button. then go to nandroid click power button and u should see nandroid backup

All the sudden my phone is in a reboot loop after upgrading to Rom Manager Donate version, hearing "FRESHHH" every 30 seconds is getting annoying wth?

Actually, you use the Amon RA recovery image for that part, so you have to select "backup and restore."

Ok now I'm lost again, in part two it says to download the amon ra recovery image, so I looked in part one and there's something about that. But don't know what it means. So do I put that amon ra image in root of sd then when in recovery and I'll see a nandroid option go there then select backup and restore?

Hi guys I am new to rooting as well and I have a question that I didn't want to start a new thread over it. I am on step number 32 and when I go to apply the sd card update I get an error message and ideas on what the problem might be?

Awesome dude, can't wait to dig in later I'm definitely missing something trying to figure it out without an idiot guide.

So all my root access is working. Just had to update busybox. Although everyone kept sayin too update the radio file. I completely skipped that step and it still worked.

Very good tut and much appreciated; however, I came from WinMo world and flashing ROMS; similar, but not exactly the same so I have some questions if someone doesn't mind clearing this up for me.
In Section II, this is rooting for the first time so the phone get's rooted by the process of loading the pc36img. Why then in section IV do you need to put the stock ROM back on? Isn't it still on the phone, just rooted now from Section II?

One more clarification, why is the Custom Recovery option necessary in section III, or is it?

Sorry for the noob questions. I've done a number of searches which cleared up a lot for me except this. I think my mindset is still stuck on flashing winmo ROMS.

Kills Sprint Hotspot. You can connect to hotspot but can't browse internet. At least this is true for the linked Supersonic rooted ROM. Might be a good idea to post a link or explain how to get back if this doesn't work for some people.

I'm presuming that loading these ROMs will get me back:

Shipped ROM (1.32.651.1) thanks to football http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685835
OTA update 1 (1.32.651.6) thanks to football http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695604

I'm downloading 1.32.651.6 now.

As long as the clockwork zip resides on my SDCard I should be able to flash the above stock ROM, be rooted again, but still use clockwork to backup/restore ROMs?

Both of those are RUUs that will completely take your root ability. Use Wireless Tether for Root Users for 3G and 4G wireless tethering.
