Root tutorial to pull baseband???????

Alright first I would like to say that I am part of the Samsung Admire part of these forums but I have a Samsung TU so im not straying too far from my home turf, so please no comments that im on the wrong section...... So here we go, is there any developer on this side of the woods that is willing to make a tutorial on how to pull the baseband of a phone and how to flash it. yes i know the risks that come with this, that its difficult and that question has been tossed around in the admire forums but no one there wants to do it. i want to be able to pull the baseband of an admire that hasnt been updated so it can successfully be flashed to one that has received the update and then downgrade, cause as you know the baseband still stays. unfortunately as there this is usually self taught stuff i have no idea on how to do this myself and there no walkthroughs, so im here asking for help from you guys. I have seen that you guys have been able to do this which is why im asking. any respond would be appreciated

Check this thread here. I don't know if it will be the same file for you, but it's probably a good place to start. ;)

it wont be the same file of course, but anything is a start because I know it can be done even though the people we have for the admire say its "impossible". any direction where there is potential on how to do this is 100% appreciated and welcomed

Edit: have found out that the Admire firmware is infact not even on the same partition. So must say my guess about that was wrong. They did however get the right file and are sorted with being able to change based band.
Seems illogical that 2 devices built by the same company, running the same Os built at the same time that do the same job would be so radicallly different that their firm ware is kept on different partions. I get that they have different hardware so different firmware. But to not use the same partitions sounds a lot like reinventing the wheel.
But good to know.

Happy to help if I can.

This is firmware so on a samsung device it would make sense that it would be located in the same place.

Dev/block/mmclbk0p6. If you find this on the phone I'm pretty sure its the baseband.

Get the file from an admire with a different baseband and do the following.

Its a copy and paste pull, put the copy in a folder on your sdcard then just move it to your pc and delete they copy.

On your pc rename mmclbk0p6 to baseband????"."img place it in a flder named baseband???? and zip the folder. Create a checksum with fast sum or whatever you use.

Now to figure out if it is. Chicken with the train time. Move the zip to you sdcard to say downloads. Just not right on /sdcard unzip open the folder and copy the .img to /sdcard and follow the terminal emulator instructions from
http://androidforums.com/transform-...boost-fg11-sprint-baseband-manual-update.html

make sure you change the file name in the terminal emulator instructions

Sorry phone was about to die so i posted what I had.

Ok when the phone is booted check settings-about phone and see if the baseband has changed.

If not then open terminal emulator and enter
su

dd if=/sdcard/baseband.bak of=/dev/block/mmclbk0p6

reboot

soon as i reboots power down and hardboot to clear the cache.

Your replacing files from an updated version of the same build so if thats not it should be no harm no foul (purely educated guess) with what you did swap.
I would recommend putting your phone in airplane mode before doing any of this wit T.E. That will also limit what might be affected.

Hope it goes well. Let us know.
