changing dns servers to net.ppp0.dns1 8.8.8.8 and net.ppp0.dns2 8.8.4.4 made a difference for me in cm7 u just edit ip-up in system/etc/ppp and set permissions to r-x r-x r-x and turn data off then on

ctmod got that as a build.prop

if u run getprop in terminal build.prop doesnt change anything either way when i tryed in ctmod 3g wouldnt work
