Two "BAD" new phones

Verizon says I am "unlucky" because I got 2 "lemons"--LG Revolution, picked it up 4 days ago, phone froze while trying to link a photo to a contact; removed battery, hard reset......phone never recovered. Verizon said return it: "bad hardware"

Phone #2: LG Revolution, got it yesterday, tried this AM to set up a direct dial shortcut on home screen and got this message: "android.process.acore has stopped" and "need to force quit." Everytime I try to set up a direct dial/direct message shortcut i get that message. Took out battery, did a hard reset, erased contacts on google, deleted duplicate contacts on my laptop, exported as vcards, reimported fresh to Google---but still same issues with phone. Verizon says this time: return it, "bad software."

But I don't think I am cursed: I think (because both happened while I was working with contacts) it's something about my google contacts and that my laptop is a Mac and that going from Mac to Google to Android somehow screws things up. I guess I go back to the store and just get an iPhone? Any advice appreciated.......thanks

Well I just got my Revo yesterday. I created a direct dial shortcut with no problems. What kind of picture are you using in Google for your contacts? (.jpg, .gif etc etc) I've had issues with them before, but nothing like this.

Not sure how or why Mac to Google to Android would cause the problem, since the contacts are just image files, but then again I can't say for certain. To eliminate that scenario, any chance you can use a Window's PC to transfer images to Google?

I don't have anything to really help you, but my computer is a Mac and I have no problems adding a direct dial shortcut to my homescreen. Google doesn't care what computer you are using, just that you can get on the internet with a browser. Google syncs with your online profile not your computer.

This is a very strange problem.

As far as going to an iPhone or not. What's important to you? Full Flash support, 4G service. It seems the iPhone is good if you have a lot of iTunes store music or movies since they can only be played on an iDevice or in iTunes on a computer. I find Android to be far less limiting on what I want to do with my phone.

A factory reset might help with problems with the Android OS.
