Two issues I have

Overall i really like the phone.

Coming from an Iphone I like the idea that the phone can look how you want.

Even jailbroken the iphone doesnt have this many options.

My two major issues are GPS...of course :rolleyes:

and my phone is laggy sometimes.

I have advanced task manager and i close all open apps. even then sometimes the music studders and stops sometimes.

Hopefully there will be a firmware update soon.

I pretty much exactly reiterated these two concerns in a different post. The GPS needs a fix, and soon. And the OS needs to run a bit more smoothly. Things just seem and feel choppy to me coming from iOS. However, with that said. I am waiting for the coming updates because I do not want to go back to big brother.
 
Yes The Gps thing is crazy and the interface is slow...but a solution for the interface is install launcherporo beta from the market...that interface runs more smoothly and u can customize it how u wanna...thats wat u can use until the update comes out
 
My interface is fast. Faster than other phones I've used. I saw a comparison video between the iPhone4 and Captivate, and the interface was faster on the Captivate. I love the speed of this thing using TW.
 
I've heard that OS 2.2 Froyo does address the lag issues. Samsung is supposed to have it out within the next month or two...
 
My phone has a really old firmware.

I used a chart to see which I had and mine was from early June.

I think there were about 10-12 updates since mine, but I havent found an offical update from samsung or at&t

Hopefully soon we can see some kinda update
 
Supposedly a GPS fix is coming, no word when though. For the lag issues. As mentioned before, use a different launcher, I use Launcher Pro. Also, do a little searching on here, there are a bunch of posts dealing with it and fixes people use.

Do NOT continue to kill tasks with task killer. It causes more problems than it fixes.
 
WOW!!

I dont know exactly what ADW does but it sure does make the phone a lot better to use

its much faster when switching songs and no bumps

multitasking is very smooth and again no bumps or stops when you have a music player opem
 
Yep, I use LauncherPro Plus (paid app) instead of ADW as it gives me a few more options, but they both speed up the interface a ton.

I don't use task managers/killers. Don't really need them with Android. One app you do want to shut off though, is the DRM program that runs at boot up. It's not needed and just takes up memory.

Remember, this phone has 512MB of RAM, but Eclair (2.1) can only access 256MB of it. These things will fly when Froyo is released.
