Help Two issues with replacement phone/apps

crystalce

Lurker
I just got a replacement S3 due to a cracked screen. In reinstalling my apps, I've encountered two annoying issues (so far...) and I've tried getting assistance from the apps' creators, but no luck. So here I am...

1) Handcent SMS: Since installing it on the new phone, I can't change my own contact picture. On my old phone (prior to the JB update) I just tapped the grey silhouette that represented my part of the conversation and it let me choose a picture. Now nothing happens and I can't figure out another way to do it. I contacted Handcent, but no response...

2) My Motospeak: It worked perfectly on my old S3 (again, installed prior to the JB upgrade). Now, I can't get it to set as the default. According to the app's instructions, when I press the call button I should get a pop up window that will ask if I want to set Motospeak as the default. Pressing the call button results in nothing happening. Well, it did open S Speak until I disabled it. I haven't changed my bluetooth device...it's just the new phone.

Any advice for either would be appreciated. The Handcent issue is just annoying. The Motospeak issue is more serious, since we have a hands-free cell phone law in my state.:(

Thanks!

Interestingly, within half an hour of posting this, Handcent responded to my email and solved that issue...of course the lesser issue. Still looking for help with the bluetooth issue@

Hi crystalce. You have to be sure the bluetooth is turned on on the phone before you can initiate a bluetooth pairing. You didn't mention that step in your original post.

Hi, don'tpanicbobby:

I'm sorry that I didn't mention pairing the bluetooth prior to attempting to connect with the My Motospeak, sorry. That seemed pretty obvious to me, so I left it out. I know that an unpaired bluetooth wouldn't pull up the pop up menu. But yes, the bluetooth was paired and on when I tried to activate the My Motospeak pop up to set it as default.

I dont know what motospeak is but you can try Default App Manager Lite from play store and see if that works mate
