Two notifications for sms

When I get a text message, I get a notification from Handcent and the stock message program. Is there a way to stop the stock program from notifying me?

OP - go into the stock app, click menu, choose settings. Then turn off notifications!

Thanks Kelmar. I did search. I guess I didn't phrase my query very well. I just wonder why the stock program is notifying me when I have Handcent set as the default?

Handcent pulls it's information from the stock app. Regardless of if you have Handcent set to be the default app or not, you have not changed the DEFAULT settings of the stock app to tell it that you don't want it to alert you to messages anymore.
