I ordered mine yesterday direct from Otterbox and it was shipped the same day. Unfortunately, the basic shipping is FedEx SmartPost -- the slowest shipping method in my experience.

Still, if you choose to order direct from Otterbox here are some tips to save some dough.

Use the coupon code PSPNEagles04 to get 20% off and free shipping. It will bring the total down to $27.96.

If you join Mr. Rebates, you will get $5 for joining plus $1.68 (6% of $27.96) back in a rebates.

I got mine a few days ago. The pictures on the Otterbox site are actually very good. The smooth part is the silicone cover while the brushed part and sides are the plastic cover. The top, bottom, and the front of the phone are protected only by the silicone part about 2mm thick. The back and the side portions of the silicon are about 1mm thick as this is where the plastic part clips on.
The bumps you see on the sides and the top are part of the silicon cover protecting the buttons. These are excellent and provide fantastic tactile feedback.

The headphone and USB port are also protected by the silicone part with a flip open cut out. They are easy to open and are large enough not to interfere even with large plugs. There are two openings in the back for the camera and the external speaker.
Curriosly, the left part of the silicone cover has holes that mirror the button covers on the right. As far as I can tell they serve no function other than a partial opening to the memory card. However, this portion is also protected by the plastic piece so the memory card is fully covered. If you need a frequent access to the SD slot, this case is not for you.

The overall quality is top notch. The cut outs, plugs, button covers: everything is perfectly aligned.

The screen protector is included. It is a clear, self-adhesive, dry-apply type. It is slightly smaller than the actual screen, so a slight misalignment won't be an issue. I still managed to be a bit off on the first attempt but had no issues repositioning it. No air bubble at all: make sure your screen is perfectly clean and apply the protector slowly using the included plastic card to push the air out as you lay it down. There are no cut outs for the sensors on top but I did not notice any adverse effect on performance. The protector feels a little rubbery at first but with a little finger grease it becomes smooth.

So, is this case worth about $30? If spending more than $10 on a case is not for you than a TPU case from eBay is great. On the other hand, if you are looking for a finely engineered and precision crafted piece of protection, the Otterbox Commuter is exactly that. You

I have the Body Glove on my phone. my vision must be poor, but I don't see what the major difference on the Otter Box is.

I bought the Otterbox and Body Glove case and I like the Otterbox more. It is a better made design and the attention to detail is better. Also having covered buttons is proving to make them easier to use. I think in the long run, the phone is better protected and will have less wear and tear. Its hard to tell looking just a the pictures.

I don't think otterbox is worth it i have seen lots of people with otterbox cases toss them in the trash and get ghost armor. And i just looked at the case for the optimus and not impressed all it looks like is your paying for a name. I had a case that looked just like the one for the optimus for my BB bold and it cost me 9 bucks at auto zone so i'm not impressed with otterbox.

I have the Otterbox to mine and to me its worth it. I am very impressed with the design. Just wish they had done a Defender Series for our phones.

Just received mine today, great design and feels much more durable then the body glove. Is a lot thicker so if you want something slimmer go with that. The rubber liner is a lint and dust magnet

I feel like the body glove may not protect the whole phone. Doesn't it just cover the back and sides? It doesn't go around the front buttons does it?

I have the body glove case as well and it seems to protect the ph fine. I have tile floor in my home and I've dropped it a few times. My ph works fine even after accidently dropping it. I also bought a $8.00 leather case from Fleabay (Ebay) too. Just my 2 cents! ;)

At Walmart over the weekend, I found a waterproof case in the camping section that will hold by cellphone perfectly. It was $5. It came in amber and blue. It will work nicely on the handlebars of my bike.

Coincidentally, the OtterBox 2000 waterproof general purpose case will hold the Optimus S/V that has the OtterBox Commuter Case on it.

An OtterBox in an OtterBox..should withstand a nuclear blast

The 2000 case is guaranteed waterproof to 100' and they go for about $12 on eBay and slightly more on Amazon. Avail in Black/Clear/Blue/Yellow and there is a thin layer of foam on the inside of the case.

I just got one for the beach, paddleboarding, etc. and it's perfect.

Picked up an OB case for my Optimus S a few days ago from Amazon. Best case I've ever had, hands down. It came with a screen guard that installed easily and effectively. I recommend one.
