Root TWRP Recovery now 'official' for Wildfire S

Well I've got it installed and it's much nicer than CWM - no more faffing about with the volume and power keys, you can give your backups a name (it has a keyboard) and it's quick.

If you're running CM9 it matches it nicely as it is themed in a similar way and uses an ICS kernel.

I can recommend GooManager, too. Not only is it a great way to install TWRP, but you can also download gapps using it - ROMs, too, if they're hosted by Goo, that is. Sort of an alternative to ROM Manager.

WoefulDerelict (the developer) says on XDA:

"Currently there is NO custom recovery that will properly support the fidgety new revision to the Wildfire S. If the official 5.0.2.8 results in a black screen on your device then you will not find any CyanogenMod kernel based software that will work on your phone. All CM GB based projects will result in a black screen and all CM ICS/JB projects will result in your device halting at the initial splash: the green HTC on a white background."

I thought to modify my status bar and got cooked (as ZIP file) with UOT Kitchen today, which then have to flash with RECOVERY.

Gone to TWRP recovery, selected the zip file to flash.
It simply said as "Installation Aborted".
No any other details. Got confused.

So, I thought to try with ClockworkMod 5.0.2.8 and flashed back it.

Now, thru CWM selected the zip file and flashed.
(There was an error in zip file which i Couldn't get details with TWRP)
The screen displayed as:

--Installing : /sdcard/UOT-09-02
-03-49-1.zip

Amend scripting (update-script)
is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by
Google in Android 1.5
It was necessary to remove it wh
en upgrading to the ClockworkMod
3.0 Gingerbread based revcovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting
(update-script and update-binary)
to create working update zip
package.
Installation aborted.

So, I think now CWM does a better job for me (for my Gingerbread 2.3.5) as of now.
