Root TWRP - Spectrum

Alright, had to go out for awhile so I let this build while I was gone. This is TWRP 2.6.3.0

There's a bug though. The default backup name includes spaces, you WILL have to set a custom name (without spaces) when doing your backups or the backup will fail.

That said, I successfully booted this. Did a backup. Restored that backup. I also installed the zip for TWRP2.6.3.0 (I dd'd it manually the first time)

Enjoy, happy flashing!

I'll try and keep an eye out for any commits that fix the date/filename bug. For the devs trying to build this on their own, here's my TWRP device tree, branched for cm10.2 sources and TWRP 2.6.3.0 https://github.com/yoinx/VS920_TWRP/tree/cm10.2 -- The TWRP 2.7 branch is in fact the 2.6.3.0 source btw.

I was unable to flash the new official CM10.2 nightly from the 2.6.3 build. I'll try to get logs, but it looked like a build.prop assert fail. Reflashed my 2.6.0 zip and was able to flash CM

Thanks. I had that problem previously too when building the older ones. I'll look into it.

well that didnt work, flashed it and now stuck at lg logo, time for a cab flash

I highly recommend that when you're playing with recoveries DO NOT force boot to the recovery using the button combo. This sets a flag in, i believe, partiton 25 that will force you to boot to recovery until it's cleared. Always boot using a reboot to recovery from the system or adb. This will help prevent a boot loop if the recovery doesnt boot up for whatever reason.

no wonder my device always screws with me...i always use the button combo, but ill keep in mind that i shouldnt anymore

Yeah. The problem is that the cm.mk for is overwriting the build properties with I_vzw while the install zip is expecting it to be vs920. Simple fix. New build will be out shortly

So, I just found out about this awesome utility... Figured I would share it with you guys. It's not TWRP specific... but meh.

[v9.10] Online Nandroid / Nandroid Backup without re-booting [CWM + TWRP + 4EXT] - xda-developers

Basically, It allows you to do your nandroid backups while you're in the rom (no reboot to recovery. Pretty awesome, since that means it can accurately put a timestamp on things.

I'm using this gui https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pommedeterresautee.twoborange3&hl=en right now with it. You will need to configure the device, and which recovery you're using (etc). The cool thing about this gui for it it though is that it lets you auto-backup on a schedule as well as upload them to google drive, dropbox, ftp.

I use Online Nandroid Backup and the companion Nandroid Manager. I'll do an online backup then boot into recovery and restore it. Works great. The manager looks to help those with locked bootloaders do system only restores with only root!

It's still slower than reboot time to do backup while in ROM (unless you clear Dalvik cache and regular cache while in recovery as the apps have to reload one by one at boot).

The main benefit to me, isn't speed related... really, you can still use your phone so the time it takes is irrelevant to me.

It's the fact that your backups automatically get the correct timestamp, and you can automatically upload your backup to google drive, plus you can schedule it to do a nandroid on a schedule.

Well currently the onandroid still 2.6.0.0 and twrp 2.6.3.0 failed to restore the android secure but is ok with its own.

You're saying the onandroid is still 2.6.0.0? Or that it didn't work with that?

Could be the script hasn't been updated yet... I'll try to look at it.
