Typing Lag After New Update

After the new update for my S4 (AT&T), I have had major typing lag for the messaging app. When I first got the phone I had this issue, but I can't remember what I did to fix this.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know any fixes to this?

Clear cache?
Delete some old texts?

Yeah, I've done both and haven't seen a difference.
