how do i get rid of the stock web browser icon in my app drawer that came with this ide rather use dolphin. when i long press other icons get the red x but not the web browser am i stuck with it?

also the rom runs xperia launcher dont really know anything about it but it should run go theme amongst others and i cant figure out how to load the go themes. i went to xda but i dont have aenough posts yet to ask the dev.... grrrrr I hate trying to be patient.

If you have Titanium Backup, you can freeze the stock web browser so it won't show in the app drawer. Don't delete it. Also, you don't need to use the stock browser, just use dolphin when you need it.

I'm not sure if the Go themes will work with that launcher. You could download Go launcher and then use the Go theme you want.

but that seems redundant to dl go launcher plus the experia launcher seems just fine maybe i can just figure out how to cook a usable theme in. xperia launcher boast it is compatable with go themes as well as others i think i just need to learn to do it the right way. don't want to give up on something do to my own ignorance

why dont delete it if i freeze it and find no issues why not make it gone. as you said i dont need it just the dolphin so it should be fine if there are no issues while it frozen. but can titanium remove the thing completely?

freeze it first to make sure that it will not affect the phone. a lot of system apps in sense are intertwined with each other and might cause other things to not work. so freeze first....delete later.......and yes tb can delete apps if you like.

as far as launchers go....you can't use go theme unless you have the go launcher. the go team did this for a reason....they do not like sharing....lol

one way you can change things is to use a desktop icon creater like Desktop VisualizeR

here this is what one member has done by using a launcher and desktop visualizer:

i used the NEXT launcher for a couple days but it felt like it was a cover up. like it was there and it was really cool with the visuals but it seemed really bulky and felt like an overlay not truly ingrained. i am not sure i can describe the experience better. i also really dont like being able to move the icons and widgets once they are set i think i would really like a wallpaper for each screen that is static with buttons and have invisible icons that actually get clicked but i dont know. really tho i think i want to learn a way to do it without a separate launcher or maybe i need to just pick a launcher and stick with it.

Ill try the desktop visualizer

My ten year olds evo is loaded with the ubersonic rc3 rom for deactivated devices. My wife has the same set up. His isn't connecting to the web with wifi hers no problem. The router is pw protected and his evo had no problem connecting but tonight no dice. I messed with a couple setting I could find turning wifi on and off. Battery out restart, settings I could find for wifi all were the same as my other so I'm think just wipe and reload the rom? Is that the next move?

try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that works first. if not the try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and then re-flash the rom. do not wipe data.

this way it is kind of like starting over but not as your data will be safe.

now if that does not work then you can try a full wipe and re-flash the rom.

Should I start with formatting the sd card or lflashing the rom?

I'm thinking NAND, wipe cache and dalvic, reflash rom then format partition sd. If everything tests out great if not rewipe cache and dalvic and reload rom again? Sound right?

this is taken from the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html.

ROOTING For Dummies Guide.....the Gingerbread Edition said:
Partition Your Card

it is recommended that you do this before trying to flash a rom.
so here are the directions on how to do it:
1.copy your content of the card to a computer because partitioning will wipe the card's content.
2.go into recovery and select partition your sd card
3.enter 32 for swap, and 1024 or 2048 for ext2, and do the rest for FAT
4.select upgrade ext2 to ext3
5.select usb-ms toggle and transfer your contents of your card on your computer back to the card.
6.go to the main menu and do a full wipe (min data, dalvik cache and cache)
7.flash the superwipe
8.flash the rom of your choice.
9.reboot

from now on it is recommended you wipe dalvik cache, cache, data and sd ext.before flashing roms. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT SELECT WIPE SD CARD as it will do just that. your card will be erased. also make sure that when making a nandroid backup to select sd ext to be backed up as well.
