Root Ubuntu Touch

I think we'd need to unlock the boot loader if I'm not mistaken. I heard something that you could build it off CM.

I don't think there is anyone currently working on such a project. There is an app or two from the play store that might allow you to do this.

would need a unlocked bootloader. Ubuntu Touch installs everything from the bootloader up. So locked bootloader = nogo. Now I am sure they may be some hackery to work around it but it wont be the same. Also at this point in time UT isnt worth the time or trouble. ;)

itd be pretty cool to get it on here, and couldnt it be possible to install without wiping the bootloader because the kindle fire did it over on xda, just hasn't finished the image completely, they just partitioned the filesystem. This is what i know, (or pretty sure I think I know).

anything is possible, but the correct way is with its own bootloader. But like I said at this point and time its not worth the time or trouble IMO.

I think this is why Kanaida was pointing towards the Connect as a possible candidate for Ubuntu, being unlocked, and stuff.... I did see a youTube video of what I think was a Galaxy 3ish phone running it, weird. That gesture-driven UI just seems a bit off. Guess we'll see soon, can't say I hate it until I try it right?

No, it was an older video on a black Samsung. Saw it a few weeks ago and it looked like some commercial video that surfaced in my FB news feed.

Your video shows a hell of a lot more functions and now looks like something I would want LOL.. Would that run on a Cayman? :D

lol you dont wnat it to, ubuntu touch is so broken they included a flashable zip fileld with data to make it seem like you have used it and to showcase some of teh features. there is no form of wireless connections and is fairly useless without any apps

Hahaha... It still looks cool though! I was asking since I'll be getting a new phone soon, so my Connect would be something I could use for testing siht without the worry of bricking. I need to do a bit more research online to see what kind of hardware Ubuntu needs to run. Maybe tomorrow, I skipped out on my Adderall today :D:D
