Root Udated SU binary, now SU keep crashing, no root

As the title says, I updated with the new SU binary when I got the notification and I immediatly lost my root. No rooted apps work, and SU keeps crashing. I tried to re run revolutionary and it tells me I already have S-off, so how do I fix SU?

Not Sure how to "Fix" it but if you have a nandroid backup prior to the update you can go back to that if not get the old one and reflash it. I don't know if the one on Rooting Gingerbread is the old version or the new one. OCN would know this better than me.

Your not the only one I have heard of having issues with the new SU. I do believe I will wait to upgrade it.

Yes, there are problems with the new superuser for Evo 4g users.

All you need to do is downgrade. I do this by simply flashing the old superuser file whenever you flash a new ROM. It can also be done at any time.

The old superuser file can be found in the "before rooting" section of the rooting for dummies guide. I'm not sure if you need to wipe anything but I wipe dalvik and cache just in case, it cant hurt.

yesterday i rebooted my phone...
after reboot my Su kept crashing... root apps wouldnt run because it crashed obvously.
i didnt change or updated anything... but if you go to the MENY>settings>Apps>Managage> SU and "Clear Data" it will work again.

BUT... it keeps crashing if you have it to prompt... so i had to change the settigns to ALWAYS instead of PROMPT... now it all works well... but if i go back to stock settings it keeps crashing...

maybe this will work for you too...

I have to agree with Rxpert there no need to give something root access that i don't specifically know has root access. Thats just asking for trouble. I accidently upgraded my su but so far fingers x I have not run into any issues.
However I do have a copy of the old one incase things go south.

while i agree with you and dont like the fact that it grants SU access to everything, i also know exactly what i install and do with my phone.
if i was concerned with any malicious software doing something i didnt want, i would change the settings.

im simple terms, it only brings you harm if you cant trust it... i dont know about you, but my apps are pretty static, and the changes i make are done because i want to.

until the app is updated to fix this bug, i am sure i can deal with it.

You are way more trusting than I am. With the ever increasing target on mobile OS's back as far as malware goes (larger market share=more profitable), I would never allow everything that asks for it root access. Even if there is no malware on your phone now, there's nothing to say a zero day exploit couldn't gain access to your phone and have root.
