Root Ugh, I need HELP rooting!

Okay, I unlocked the bootloader and I have Amon Ra Recovery 3.1.3 installed. I have attempted 3 different ROMs and every single one seems as though it installs successfully, however, upon rebooting into the OS for the first time, every single one gets stuck on the 4G logo screen. I have let it sit for over an hour thinking it might just be taking a while for the first boot. But it just doesn't do anything. I have tried flashing a new kernal to it, but when I run adb devices from my command prompt, it does not list any devices. I have the files needed for this to run as well as the drivers. I have even downloaded new ones from three different sources thinking the downloads may have been corrupted. Nothing. Nothing seems to be working. As of right now, I can access hboot and recovery from the phone. I can even access the sd card from my pc using recovery, so I can add files to it, but the adb command will not recognize my phone.

What can I try?

Edit for update: When I am sitting at the 4G logo, stuck, with my phone connected to my pc, adb devices does find it. But when it is at the fastboot screen, it does not...

I am trying to go through the process for the first time....not an experienced rooter, but from what I understand after you install Amon RA, you have to install the superuser.

what roms did you flash, what kernel did you try to install?

my first guess is that youre trying to boot ICS roms with a gingerbread kernel

I think you are right. I was trying to install the BAMF ICS ROM and they offered like 7 different kernals. Of course, the first three I tried were apparently not the right ones . I finally tried the 1.7 one and it works now! :D
