Help Ugh the ZTE Hurts...

So you have No more force closes since you unrooted???

I have never rooted this phone. I was saying that if I had rooted it, I would have unrooted & re-rooted a few times by now. And as of right now, having had a phone reset to like straight out the box all day with absolutely nothing added on/to it, I have had it to freeze & reboot 14 times so far today.
On a lighter side though, a co-worker took his warp, smashed it and mailed it back to ZTE, he was so disgusted with it. He also sent along a copy of a receipt showing them he bought a iPhone with a 2 year contract which he paid the first year for up front. This phone has disgusted a lot of people here, and some are giving up on Boost because of it.

I hear ya on that! I've thought about jumping ship a few times.... love the galaxy s2 but I use too much data...

Actually, I may go with that instead of renewing my contract with Verizon next week. I played with a galaxy s2 yesterday, and was impressed. But I will have to go with a 5 gig plan.

Is there anyone on this forum who actually sent the phone back to ZTE for repair, and received the phone back? Did it make a difference?

Ya I had the exact same issues before i was rooted. Like i had said before, i attribute this to the os. And zte being new

My experience with the ZTE Warp has been nothing short of an absolute unmitigated disaster. It was fine for the first week than after it began to crash from the silliest things (like pressing the back capacitive button for example). I've now put up with this non-sense for 3 weeks, the return policy was just silly. I don't want to be without a phone (in fact I can't be without a phone due to work). The specs on the ZTE Warp are really pretty decent given it's price, and the unlimited nature of Boost Mobile, that is; When it works. I realize I could stop whining and try sending it back and hope I get a much more reliable Warp. But I don't really have the time or the patience to go that route. Given that I went to Boost for a long term "commitment" in the first place (ie: though it is month to month I really figured I'd be with them for years) I finally had to decide either fish or cut bait with the Warp and Boost at this point.

The biggest problem I had was once you went to the larger screen size of the warp, and the larger amount of RAM & storage for apps. It's really hard to go back to the Prevail. So I owe the ZTE Warp that much gratitude. But ultimately I had to decide what was best for me and my work situation. So I finally bit the bullet and just went with Verizon and the HTC Rezound. It has all the things I liked about the Warp (big screen, memory, faster proc) just sans all the bother of the crashing and instability issues.

I would never personally recommend the ZTE Warp now based on my own experience. But I don't begrudge anyone trying this phone. Because I can certainly tell that if you get a good working one without all the problems I had; I'm sure it's an amazing phone to own and use. I just wanted to more or less lay out my own experience with this phone.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and remember this is just one persons opinion. It's probably not even a good opinion and as I said if the ZTE works great for you than I'm extreme happy for you. Had mine worked well too, I'd of been in the ZTE fanboi camp.
Dude, I definitely feel your pain. I also will have a decision to make pretty soon, if the same problems persist. :(

I didn't want to give up on Boost for a lot of reasons not the least of which was in had spent over $200 not even a full month ago. Unfortunately the problems I had were just way to much for me and I needed a better solution. I also had signal issues in so much as I had 0 to 1 bars at home; which is simply unacceptable for me. What really steams me is Boost continues selling this phone. Granted my plan with Verizon costs more than Boost the HTC Rezound was the same price. Though my girlfriend works for verizon so we get a 22% discount which drops my bill down significantly. I also have 4 bars of 4G at home. I have no regrets about giving Boost a go, I have even less regrets about switching.

And for the record I was rooted with 08 installed. It didn't make any difference fore whatsoever.

Didn't want to speak bad of Boost or the Warp. But I had to be honest with my post and more importantly honest with myself. It was just time to fish or cut bait and make the plunge into the contract world. No regrets for me and I love this Rezound a lot.

Yea, the Boost/Sprint network is not terribly know for its reliability. The warp I'd even less dependable.
Personally, I'm switching to AT&T Saturday (actually, my family has already done that for me for my b-day present and got me the Galaxy S2 I wanted, but I'm not supposed to know........shhhhhh!).
Unreliable phone, unreliable service is no bargin, even at $55/month. And this warp even had me thinking of switching to the iPhone.

I am glad you got some resolution...hope AT&T works good for you.

The weird thing about this is how different each persons experience can be. My Warp has worked flawlessly from day one and I have never been happier with Boost. I had Verizon before and had a terrible signal and a very spotty phone. Paid 120 dollars a month for less service. I could not even carry on a conversation at home with somebody. Now I have a great phone and my signal is 4 or 5 bars every where I go.

I'm so glad this phone works for you and your coverage with Sprint is adequate. I wish that would of been my experience as well.

I've been one of the original Warp issue posters. I have never been rooted.
I did the OTA upgarde last year - went to version 8, but had the FC problems again in 2 days.
I talked to ZTE (again) last week - they swore the upgrade on their website would fix the software issues. They also swore that, even thought the to upgrade showed it was still version 8, it included software fixes (so, phone shows you do not need an upgrade b/c of the version number, but it IS different - according to them).
SO, I did the online upgrade 12 Feb (you can't do it OTA, because of the version number). This is 17 Feb - not one FC. At all.
Now, I am adding in apps very slowly, and am still using the stock launcher (even though I am going through GoLauncher withdrawal symptoms!).
Trust me, I 'm not saying this is the fix - I'm just saying, so far....

Do you have a link?

It's the one on their website - zteusa. com. go to products (warp, of course), and the support tab. you have to download the upgrade tool to your pc, then attach the phone and run the upgrade.
they have a pdf with instructions, written in choppy english.
I'm sure you know this, but it does reset your phone

So let me get this right.. you were already 8" the latest update" and zte told you to update again because they changed the update even though it's still *8... is it still working?

so far, so good. no fc since last sunday, when i used the upgrade tool. gotta say, tho, i only added a few apps, and no launcher - not the way i like to use my phone.
i think i'll do golauncher tonight or tomorrow. gotta stop kicking the tires and open it up sooner or later!

I've had my Warp since they had the black Friday sale and I have not had 1 problem at all. fully rooted use it to tether and all. So far for me its been a great phone. It benchmarks with some of the high end phones, that you would pay twice as much for also. Cant wait to overclock this thing.

If I was to put a bet on it I would say that their are some bad batches out there. I just got lucky and got a good one. I would say the majority of people have good Warps, you hear about the bad ones on here but look how many people are on here with good ones? I would say if your interested in getting one try it out, if you have problems take it back. I think you have 14-15 days to return it. Also if you got problems send it back if your past your return date you might be surprised when you get a good on because mine runs butter smooth. Most of the time I set at 150mb free ram with no lag at all, if I clear it with a task manager I can get above 200mb free sometimes I can get up to 220mb free. without anything froze or taken out of the phone. One other thing is that I have never upgraded it I'm still on stock out of the box software and firmware.

Although I am very interested in the Galaxy Note, but I can wait for the larger phones to become standard and the prices to drop, plus I want something closer to 5.7 or 6 inches to use as a phone/tablet mix 5.7 or 6 inches for that combo would be perfect IMO. I see things changing a lot next year.

I just made my 4th payment 2 more to go then I get lowered to $55 I pay $5 insurance, which I would like to ask all of you a question about. below.

I do have a couple questions though if anyone can answer them or have had the same thing before. I bought the additional insurance $5 a month. which covers the Warp it if its lost, stolen, broke etc. I will end up losing this phone sometime in the future, I know that, has anyone had this happen and how did it work out for you? Did they replace the phone was it a big problem or did it go pretty smooth?

The second question is has anyone heard of boost ever going 4G and if so when? 3G is getting pretty slow compared to what is starting to be offered at the other places and if they want to stay competitive they have to go there and I hope that its soon. Because if not I will have to leave Boost.

If anyone can answer either of those questions I would really appreciate it.
