Ugh. Turn off email notifications but not texts?

I spent 20 minutes trying to figure this out. Someone clue me in.

I don't want to stop getting emails and text. I just don't want the email sound.

Go into your email account, hit menu, more, settings, then notification settings.

Im guessing this is what you are talking about:

open Messages, menu > settings, should have "Recieved notification" where you can turn it on or off, notification sound, etc.

In email, I don't have those options. When I'm looking at my email, I hit menu and then more and my only options are new meeting invitation or new account.

Huh ? In the mail app or gmail app when you open it up hit menu then settings

Hm. I'm using my Aria, in the basic Email application under Menu > More > settings, I have "Notification Settings" that I'm able to click where I'm able to turn off email notifications sounds etc.

That was weird. When I used the mail icon to open mail
the options didn't exist. However, when I used the Gmail icon to open mail, the options were there. Thanks for helping me track it down.
