Help UK navigation/gps issues?

Hi, I use my phone for navigation in work.
My xperia s was fine and so was my galaxy s3.
I bought the nexus 4 because I used to have a nexus s and I missed the vanilla android.
Now the problem is that while navigating, the navigation app will freeze then 2 minutes later, will catch up to where I am.
This is really annoying.
The app never has a problem finding my location when I put the address in.

Anyone else have issues like this?

Btw I'm using Googles navigation app.

I've used Google Navigation app and it seems to work ok for me, no problems I can remember of but I usually use Co-Pilot as it doesn't need data enabled for maps where Google does. Do you get a good quick GPS fix?

Have you saved your maps so you can use them off line,it may help
These are the only things I can think of, if you lose data signal quality you would lose the maps updating.

but that said I have used gps on phones with no service, while on wifi select destination and let it calculate then just follow the map.

Navigation on the other hand would need constant updates.

I haven't saved any maps.
I always set the destination before I set off, it finds the route quick enough and I always get a gps fix.
I will be driving along, then the blue arrow will stop moving, a lot of the times at a junction or roundabout. Then a couple of minutes later, it finds me again.

There have been reports that the N4 can slow down quite drastically when you have are getting low on free space - say if you have less than 1GB free. Possibly something to do with insufficient space for paging ..

I've use my N4 for navigation quite a bit in the UK and haven't noticed the issue you've got.
