Help UK Question

If you are in an area with 3 coverage I'd say go with them. From a data point of view I think it's by far the best uk network -the fact that is was built originally to do data on 3G rather than bein older technology upgraded like the other network seems to make a difference. If I forget to switch on wifi it takes me ages to notice because data over 3G really is that reliable and fast! Plus the One Plan is awesome!

Disagree Orange are shite, was with them for 5 years....

I was with Orange a few years back and I finally dumped them because of their Indian call centres. I don't expect much from a call centre but I do do expect them to be able to speak intelligible English.

I guess it depends on where you are located, but I'm very happy with my data speeds on 3UK. I'm located in London.

Update: Thanks for all the replies, I ended up with a good deal on T Mobile through Car Phone Warehouse. In the process I discovered something new, that is all phones supplied by CPWH are unlocked. So no network bloat ware and that updates come direct from manufacturers and are not reliant on the networks. So hopefully no long delay with Jellybean. Still have not finished setting phone up but so far impressed.

EE have announced which phones will be compatible with their "4GEE" network. The Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE is one of them (not to be mistaken with the original Samsung Galaxy S3).

I was just reading the same thing, But i read that in Germany there will be a 60MB update that should enable 4G on the SGS3, so i am assuming that there is something to do with Jelly Bean update.

Think i may had read it wrong might be more about Jelly Bean update, but 60MB is small.

I also heard that, surely that cannot be true. Awesome if it is

There has to be something they can do or, they will loose the following in the UK, as why should we buy another S3 to get LTE.

I think they disabled it due to there being issues with quad cores working with LTE

Well I tweeted EE about early upgrade and this is their reply...

But I heard a rumor that EE have said that the SGS3 will be compatible with their 4GEE, but no source linking directly to EE saying this.

LOL short and sweet response with no indication,

Sounds like Samsung lol.

Problem would be as I flashed my firmware to an unbranded version lets hope if there is a t_mobile update regarding 4G, that it does not effect me lol.

Are they partners of Talk Talk by any chance ? :D
Wouldn't be surprised.

3 are dirt cheap but have the worst customer service known to man.

LMFAO... Mate you are so right there!!!
:smokingsomb:

Orange are really good, you should have rang them more. I haggle more out my contract every few months just by argueing 3 are offering this cheaper and more of that, give me MOAR or I leave! Works everytime. ;)

Also anyone else notice how god awful the EE colours and logo are? what the f*** where they thinking?

Yes and no. EE is LTE, so we would need an LTE handset like the korean S3, not out International GSM ones. Apparently we have the Radio stack cable of 4G but not 4G LTE

As far as I know, 4G does not exist, it is just used by providers as a way to make their network sound better. Some carriers class HSPAP as 4G. But carriers are somehow allowed to call H+ 4G and LTE branded as 4G, but they are not true 4G so this gets alot of people confused. I do wonder what they will call 4G when/if it does eventually come out.

LTE is marketed as LTE 4G but is still not fourth generation (4G). I was told years ago that LTE was being made to work with existing GSM handsets, I guess that failed.

Yes its debated:

Pretty sure those figures aren't right. 100Mb sure. 1Gb per second? Rubbish.

They're just making it up to be fair. Pin in a chart of network speeds. Given 3g or HSDPA is upto 14Mb, I would say 50Mb should be 4g. But then what do I know?

EE are calling it 4g

Hopefully if our international GS3's cannot be updated to work on 4G maybe EE will allow us to get the new LTE GS3 on an upgrade.
I remember this happening with the Iphone (I think it was when they released the 3g) they allowed people to get the new phone as long as they signed a new 24 month contract.
Will be a bit annoyed if I'm stuck in my contract until 2014 and unable to use EE's 4G service!

I can't see 1Gbps ever happening tbh, and if it was to happen then not at least for decades, maybe even centuries away but I don't see it happening in my lifetime lol.

I would say 4G should be around 100Mbps. I also noticed that EE have called their LTE service 4GEE which is clever if you ask me because they cannot be accused of falsely using 4G as a marketing ploy.

Its ridiculous. Some corporate LANs are still only 10/100. My home LAN is 10/100.

They can be accused. The link i posted to their site plainly says its a 4g network ;)

100Mb is too big a step I think.
