Uk S3 4g?

How you get into test mode? Can't remember lol!

I hve an international one and when I go into test mode I can select radio band.

It also shows LTE/ CDMA/ xEVDO as well as LTE/GSM/WCDMA, no idea if it has the hardware to use it, though. Supposed to be a world phone.

LTE is 4G so?

I am sure i have read in the forum that they are not.

I get the E symbol at work which i believe is EDGE and the G at home, the internet works on both fine but obviously slow.

I started to use Dolphin browser today and have disabled pictures loading unless i am on WiFi, this has speeded page loading up when using mobile data as my connection a lot especially on forums with lots of avatars.

Can anyone reach a verdict whether the international version can support 4G/LTE??

Would be awesome if it did!

I don't think anyone knows for sure, I got mine through Carphone Warehouse so is obviously unbranded so ill email them and see if they can shed any light on it.
If not maybe an email to Samsung UK might provide an answer.

Users will find a whole host of great new advantages over their current 3G connections when LTE technology is finally deployed by mobile broadband operators. This will include much faster connection speeds that will allow users to stream high quality audio and video over the internet and also the ability the download much larger data files than they are currently able to over their 3G service. For mobile network providers LTE technology will allow them to support far more users over their network and the extra bandwidth will also allow them to handle much data moving around their network, even during the busiest times of the day.

Hey all,
I have just received confirmation from Carphone Warehouse here in the UK that our UK S3's ARE 4G ready!
An exciting time for any S3 users on Orange or T-Mobile - Jelly Bean within the week and 4G around the corner!

Thats superb news!! I think Samsung need to start making a song and a dance about the Galaxy S3 being 4G enabled, especially with the iphone5 around the corner.

Do you reckon tmobile will offer 4G as standard (replace the 3G service) or will they run it alongside the 3G service and charge a premium?

Are you sure about the 4g thing? I thought the whole reason the us version had dual core was to make room for the 4g chip, so how can we in the uk have quadcore and 4g?

The exynos cpu (possibly the a9 architecture in general) doesn't support LTE on the bands it operates on in the USA, which is why they need the S4 cpu

It's all a bit 'pie in the sky' at the moment but I'm sure we will hear more and more over the coming weeks.
I would like to think that Orange / T-Mobile would just switch on compatible handsets to the 4G network but I wouldn't be surprised if they charge us for using it - At least until the other carriers start supplying the service.

They're probably talking about HSPA+ which some people wrongly label as 4G.

Ah rite. Any chance if you know the uk version could support 4g. I see the band that everything everywhere has been granted to use 4g over is 1800 which the s3 supports.

I have just this minute got off the phone to CW and was told they will definitly not work with 4G.

It doesn't matter anyway. By the time we have decent 4g coverage you'll be on to a new phone. 4g is going to be expensive (carriers need to recoup their investment) and coverage will be restricted to high density areas (major cities).

@ SUroot & Crafty.

Good point, by the time we get 4G here in the UK we will have moved on from mobile phones to the next big (or small) thing.

I never knew what 'E' stood for. From what you're saying, it must be 'excr*m*nt'!

To be honest its not bad compared to 3G but its crap compared to H+

EDGE provides up to three times the data capacity of GPRS. Using EDGE, operators can handle three times more subscribers than GPRS; triple their data rate per subscriber, or add extra capacity to their voice communications. EDGE uses the same TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) frame structure, logic channel and 200kHz carrier bandwidth as today's GSM networks, which allows it to be overlaid directly onto an existing GSM network. For many existing GSM/GPRS networks, EDGE is a simple software-upgrade.

If you really don't think that 4g will revolutionize the UK you needed to do your research. You will be able to stream a movie whilst out and about! Play online games with no lagging. It's going to be amazing. Ee are the only network that have achieved enough 3G coverage to be allowed to launch 4g, this obviously done buy merging orange and t-mobile. All other networks are 1-2 years before they roll out 4g. Exciting times for ee customers!

Well here in south Leicestershire I am lucky to get 3g on any of the networks, vodafone is the worst. I don't expect 4g to be any better here unless there is more masts put up. The first time I got to test fast mobile was on the m1 coming down from Harrogate and it was amazing.
