so my DX decided that it doesnt want to send texts or make calls even though it has 3 bars of service

i turned it off and on like 3 times and did a battery pull

any other thing i can do besides factory reset?

You can try what they call a "Hard Reset" while the phone is on pull the battery out and if that dont work try re-activating it
