Root Unable to access Recovery

First, let me apologize if this has been discussed to exhaustion. I know there are issues with CWM and certain Roms, along with Rom Manager problems. However, I assumed that since I was running CM7, my file system would be compatible with the latest CWM. So, here,s my issues.

Currently running:
CM7 RC2
RM v.3.0.1.3
CWM 3.0.0.8

Whenever I try to access recovery, I can only get as far as the bootloader screen and I loop between that and the screen that asks me if I'd like to access recovery. I also get that delay while it apparently checks my SD card for a proper image but seems to find nothing. So, I cannot actually get into recovery.

On the other hand, when I have gotten into recovery, it won't allow me to backup for whatever reason. It just keeps failing mid-backup.

I'm so tired of this, that I just want to know what y'all suggest for CWM version so that can be stable and how to get there.

Thanks in advance.

Try going into the options of rom manager and check the box that erases recovery before flashing, then flash recovery a few times.

WTF?!? How did that accomplish ANYTHING? Why in the world did that work? Anyway, thanks a ton. No my phone is back to functional, I guess. Not that it wasn't working, but when you can't back it up, it's a little more worrying to mess around with anything.

Thanks a ton. Now if I can just figure out how to get CWM to run as smoothly on my NC. That always freezes during the "Creating md5 sum". Perhaps I will give this a shot.

Creating the md5 sum can take a while on the nook... How long are you waiting?

I've waited like 20-30 in the past. It's weird, when I first enter recovery, I see this string of text that reads something along the lines of:

ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log

And the standard menu of options above to reboot, update from SD, factory reset, wipe cache, install zip, backup/restore, mounts, and advanced.

Any idea what that text is telling me?

we are talking about the nook, still, right? is cw 3.0.0.5 the newest version available to you on it? if not try using a newer version,or maybe an older one :p

ive seen a similar string of errors on my dinc and it seems it was some sort of script compatability issue... and it seems like it maybe was when i was trying to use that same cw version

Well, when you flash recovery versions in RM, you have to select either Nook Color or Nook Color (old). I just changed from the old and now it works for flashing Roms, but still no backups and I get the same Text output.
