Unable to boot phone

You don't need much space to install the minimal adb and fastboot utilities. You don't need to install the full ADK to get adb. The minimal install takes up maybe 2MB so you could even put it on a flash drive if you like.

Thanks for this info lunatic. I found out about it before you posted and after I had already installed around 1G of files leaving just a few hundred MB to spare. :(
Live and learn...

ok keep us posted here. i hope it works out.

Well I have got good news to report! :)
I am greatly relieved.
It took me a few days as I predicted near the beginning, but I am back in action finally!

I kept researching yesterday and today and found an obscure Youtube video where a fellow walks you through using SP Flash Tool and also installing a driver to connect your phone to your computer.
That driver was the key for me!
It was a VCOM USB driver.
But before I could install it I had to 'Disable Signed Driver Enforcement'.

Anyway, long story short...
I am back to Android v.5.1 which was my stock ROM.

I can still use some help from you folks if you have the patience with me. :)

Here's what I would like to do.
1. Re-install all of my key apps to my phone.
2. Make a proper backup that I could use to quickly re-image my phone to its exact state it will be in shortly.
3. Experiment with other ROMS (v.6, v7 etc.)

I can take care of 1. by myself, but I would need help with 2. for sure.
I assume I would need to root my phone again to achieve the re-image backup?
Instructions on how to do all of that would be appreciated. :)

There went three or four days of my life I'll never get back! :(

NICE!!!!!!!!

you should still have SuperUser (SU) which means you are still rooted. have you tried to get TWRP again?

also with TWRP you can make a nandroid backup which is basically backing up your phone and its data. its great for going back and forth with different roms. just remember to always do a nandroid backup before you flash anything.

if you are still rooted (have SU) you should also look into getting Titanium Backup. here is something about it from here:https://androidforums.com/threads/guide-to-backup-and-restore-apps-with-titanium-backup.258786/

Thanks again ocnbrze!

So far I have just been trying to bring my phone back up to its previous state before the first flash.

But just now I wanted to try to see if I could boot to the TWRP Recovery menu.
Instead of the Recovery menu popping up I got a very ill-looking Android guy lying flat on its
back with a door to its stomach wide open. A question mark or something like that was on top
of his open stomach.
It stayed like that for a minute or so then the phone booted up.

So maybe you can tell me what state my phone is in? :)
BTW, before when the TWRP menu used to come up I got a TeamWin logo just before the menu showed.
Now there was no TeamWin logo either. Just the sick Android guy.

That's stock recovery. When you flashed the stock rom it replaced TWRP with stock recovery. To get to the recovery menu when the little guy is laying on his back I think you have to press vol. up ... or is it vol/ down? One of those will take you to stock recovery, but there's no option to backup there. You'll have to reinstall TWRP.

I know it's hard to believe but after more than a week I still haven't solved this puzzle. :(

Here's where I am currently.
I managed to flash the stock ROM (Android 5.1) using SP Flash Tool on my computer.

All was good except I couldn't use my phone (dial out/receive calls).
I lost my IMEI number when I formatted my phone during one of my flashes.

Yesterday I managed to re-flash TWRP after I re-rooted my phone with KingRoot.
That's how this whole thing started (KingRoot - TWRP).

Someone directed me to a SN Write Tool to get my IMEI number back.
Running that program I get the following error:

"SmartPhoneSN: Connect with preloader(): Get dynamic preloader comport timeout. "

So that's where I'm stuck right now.
Has anyone ever lost their IMEI number before and was able to get it back?
Which tool did you use?
Thanks in advance!

ok first off, i dont think you can change or loose your imei. i think its cooked into your phones processing chip.

second changing an imei is illegal which we can't discuss here per site rules

edit: i guess you can, bur still i don't think we can discuss it here

Sorry I didn't mean to confuse you about this.
I have no intention of changing my IMEI.
I simply would like to get my original IMEI back.

I was told that the reason I can't use my phone right now is because it lost its IMEI.
It makes sense to me because after contacting my phone service provider they told me there
is nothing wrong with their cell towers or service.

There are no bars showing on my phone.
A phone app tells me the SIM cards are working.
I just don't receive any service to the phone.

I don't think they would have IMEI software to Write IMEI's if you couldn't lose yours.
If you think that's not the problem with my phone I'm all ears. :)

During one of my phone flashes I chose to format the phone.
I was told that was where I likely lost my IMEI numbers.

Here's what may have happened... The original link you posted of the zip missing the updater-script could've been for another phone. If the zip contained a modem flash then you would lose your imei.

Flashing the modem from a different phone would cause the imei to be wiped. You can try to see if anyone on xda can post a flashable zip of the modem for you. Just explain your case as you've done here just in case they have a different solution.

edit:
Formatting the phone doesn't erase the imei. I've done this many many times and never lost my imei.

.

Thanks GT. I have posted to the XDA Forum about this. Hopefully someone there might have a zip for my phone's modem. :)

You can get the factory images off of googles website if you need the link ill gladly give it to you

Thanks for helping out!

Unfortunately I don't think the link you gave will help me out.
You see Google came out with their own phones using the Pixel name:
Google Pixel 1,2, 3 etc.

I need the ROMs for the Lava Pixel 2. It is an Indian made phone.
Ohh

Nice!!!!!!!

Hopefully this post will help some others here, because it sure isn't helping me!!!

I had been using Android 6.0 since my last post more than a week ago.
Things were going relatively well.

I had solved the IMEI issue.
Phone was working.
Key apps were set up again.
Camera was now working (wasn't working first time I used this ROM), although interface not as good as 5.0.

So I came back to report all was well and say I was going to do a backup now, just in case...

Whoever says you should always backup is not right!!!

As I reported above I did get TWRP back again (had to root again).
So I figured I'd just boot to TWRP and backup...

I just lost all my data and apps and IMEI !!!!

How is that possible you ask?

When I tried to boot to root (TWRP) I was presented with Chinese messages.
Didn't understand any of them of course.
Selecting one went through a diagnostics test.
Selecting another WIPED ALL MY DATA!!!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to square one again....
