Help unable to connect to server

Hey I guys. I recently updated my rom to cyanogenmod 7.1 and its taken away my market. I downloaded it from the browser but when I try and open it it says I need to sync with an account. So I go to my settings accounts and sync. Add new account and when I try to add my Google account it comes up with domain/username password and server. I have tried different stuff but it comes up with "unable to connect to server". It now means I have no contacts. How can I sync my phone to get my contacts and log into the market. Please please help. I have a Samsung galaxy s2 gt-I9100.

Also I tried to back up rom but an exclamation mark in a triangle and the android Guy appear and stops working. Have I done something wrong? My phone was alright with cm7 but not its not working too well

Yeah I used rom manager. I've rebooted it switched it on and off. The only thing wrong is I can't sync my contacts and don't have android market

The only problem I care about is getting the android market back. I have downloaded it installed it and when I open it it says "you must add an account to this device. Would you like to add one" I click yes but it just goes off and nothing happens. I need a domain/username password and server when I try and add an account in my settings.

That's cool, but you need to flash the google apps package to get that. Alternatively, you could install the gmail apk as a standalone app, but it needs to be pushed via ADB.

Copy the zip file you downloaded to the root of your SD Card, then in ROM Manager, hit Flash clockworkmod recovery to ensure the latest version of CWM is installed. Once done, in ROM Manager, select reboot into recovery. In CWM, backup your current setup, then once completed, select install zip from SD Card, select the zip you placed on the SD Card, let that flash, reboot and gmail and the market etc should be installed.
