Unable to find mobile hotspot

I recently got a generic tablet with Gingerbread 2.3 on it and for some reason when I create a mobile hotspot with my iPhone it does not come up. I can connect to other wifi with no problems. I was also looking at rooting and can't find any programs that work. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Welcome to Android Forums. It's going to be tough to root a generic tablet without knowing the manufacturer and model. The rooting process can be very specific to the device.

Its a MID 97U with telechips 8902. I have also just noticed that it does not support flash.
