Lurker
2 days now, no 4G. In setting it shows "4G unknown". I have tried many different ways to fix it, but no luck. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

What area do you live in? Have you tried good old airplane mode on and off? Factory reset? If none of those work, take it to a Sprint store. 4G FTW.

Live in Long Beach, CA...Have tried airplane mode on and off, no luck. How do I do a factory reset? I'm on a family plan with 4 epic phones, mine is the only one that is doing this. Frustrated, I don't want to take it to a Sprint store because its over 30 days and I don't want a refurbish phone.

If anyone have the same problem and solve it, please let me know. dangerdat, how do I do a factory reset, its not in the manual and thank you for your suggestions.

Maybe its the area, have you got 4g coverage before? To do a factory reset go to settings>Privacy>Factory data reset. If you do a factory data reset it will erase everything and bring your phone back like when you first got it. If after that your 4g doesn't work in area with 4g you might want to take it in.

I had the same problem on my second Epic.

We tried everything including doing a reset of the phone. Nothing worked. We determined it was a defective phone and had it exchanged for my 3rd Epic.

Did Factory data reset twice, no luck. Will be taking it to a Sprint store today or tomorrow.

Thanks for the info RaiderJoe...

hotpocketdeath, thanks for posting, I was starting to feel I was the only one with this issue. I have 4 epic phones(family plan), hoping only mine have this issue. Now I wonder if this is a known issue with Samsung or Sprint.

i have the same problem and i live in Downey, i dont want to reset my phone because i have so many apps and such things on my phone.. but this is very annoying

Update;

1. Took to Sprint store, $35 fee for replacement, they recommended I call Sprint.
2. Called Sprint, no $35 fee if phone not physical damage, then transferred to tech support, same answer and wrote up an E ticket and told me to go back to the store.
3. Called CSR to double check before going to the store, was told there is a $35 fee, prior notes show there is an E ticket but no mention of waiving the $35 fee.
4. OK, I didn't care about the $35 anymore, went into the store. They had to canceled the original ticket but I was told when I get my replacement phone and if there is problem within hours or days I will need to spend another $35 for another replacement...Suck.
5. Called CSR, spoke to a sup, they will credit $35. Sup recommended that I check the phone to make sure it was 100% working before leaving the store. I explain that the $35 is not a big deal to me anymore, what bother me is how they have wasted so much of my time.
6. Took my phone into the store, got a replacement phone(recondition) on Friday, bought the $7 insurance(will keep for 2 months) so I don't have to sit at the store checking everything on the phone is working before leaving the store...so far the phone has been working great, I have 4G.

To all that have the same issue with 4G unknown; I hope my notes helps is deciding what to do.

Thanks Maddog for following up. I'm sure there are grateful users out there bound to search and find your posts.
