Help Unable to install system software update from htc.com

That's pretty much what I get, so that's very good for a sense rom.
 
2.09.405.8 isn't branded, it's the generic Desire FroYo update - the first before the 2.10.405.2 one came out.

It's whether the ROM came with the Virgin ROM on it out the box

yes, it sounds like it did. He used to have a VM splash screen, then unbranded it using goldcard +2.09.405.8
