Help Unable to join contacts!

I select a contact, I select join contact, I choose the contact to join, it says contact join, but in reality, nothing is done.

I dont get it. Does this feature even work?

Are your contacts google contacts or on the phone? Can you post a screen shot?

Both.

This feature worked fine on the GS3, but now when I attempt to join two contacts - in any combination of phone, Google, FB or LinkedIn - It tells me the contact is joined, but like the OP, nothing actually happens. If this is a bug, I need to swap out this device.

If it was me I would remove all the contacts and then let google re-import them, in case there was a problem first time around.

Definitely, it's worth a try, although I have already had to do one hard reset when I lost all my camera sounds :-(

I have this same problem now too. Worked fine on ATT Captivate Glide until I upgraded to ice cream sandwich and now it does not work. Does anyone know how to fix?

I have had a similar issue on the Note 2. I had 2 contacts to merge; 1 from facebook and 1 from "on the phone." Since my imported contacts from my previous iphone (dont hate) had outdated Facebook links I had to delete the "website" field from the contact attributes then try to merge again. This worked for more than half. Sometimes I still get the message "contacts joined" even when they are not. I think it may have to do with competing fields. For example if the contacts have different websites or emails.

It's seems I've found a good workaround. If normal connecting fails then do this:
1. Open the settings for one of the contacts (click on the "pencil" while viewing the contact)
2. Put the cursor at the end of the contacts last name, like you're changing their name, and type a space (hit space bar) then it will bring up other similar contacts below. Choose the account you want join by touching it and the phone will prompt you to join contacts. This method has not failed!

This workaround actually "joins" the contacts instead of "linking" them. If you're having trouble make sure the names of both contacts you want to join are the same.
