Help Unable to link contacts/fb/gmail manually

Hi,

I recently upgraded my Sprint Evo 4G to 2.3. Since the update I have not been able to link contacts manually. I go to someones profile, and search for say their facebook (if i search for a gmail, or to merge with another contact it doesnt work either). I find their facebook name and select it. Then it brings me back to the previous screen, and it does not show the linked contact. If I hit "done" it does not link. I can try as many times as I want to add the facebook profile and it never shows up in the "link contact" screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

To update - I found a contact where it had a recommended link. I click the link button, select to link it, and hit done. It brings me back to the contact profile, unlinked.

I did realize however I was wrong. If I enter a users gmail address manually, then I am able to link the facebook account if it suggests it - if not I am unable to link manually. If I don't have an e-mail, I am unable to link.

I found the answer (on a Verizon tech support forum link) on how to manually link my contacts with the new Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) software update. After selecting a contact you press the menu button and then select “Edit Contact” and then press the menu button again and press the “Join” and then Select show all contacts and scroll or search to the contact your wish to join and that’s it.
So it was buried a little deeper and is called “Join” vice “Link”. I hope this helps anyone else out there.

It's seems I've found a good workaround. If normal connecting fails then do this:
1. Open the settings for one of the contacts (click on the "pencil" while viewing the contact)
2. Put the cursor at the end of the contacts last name, like you're changing their name, and type a space (hit space bar) then it will bring up other similar contacts below. Choose the account you want join by touching it and the phone will prompt you to join contacts. This method has not failed!
