Help Unable to play multiplayer games

Hi,
I've got Asphalt 6 and while it works all right for single player, I am unable to connect to multi player games.
I am trying to connect to another player (he's using an ipad2) and because we don't have an AP around we tried making hotspots but sadly neither sees the other.
Any workaround available?

Might not be the game. It might be that IOS and Android is like oil and water and just don't mix.
