Help Unable to see hidden folders in Windows Explorer

I've noticed that when I've connected my Galaxy S2 to my PC (Windows 7) I can't see the hidden folders in Windows Explorer on the PC. I've tried the usual setting (checking "Show hidden files, folders and drives") but this has no affect.

I connected my old HTC Wildfire to my PC and the hidden folders show up fine.

Anyone got any idea why I can't see them on the S2?

Have you also tried (on pc) unchecking "hide protected operating system files"?

FYI, Windows hidden files are rt click > properties > hidden
Android hidden files have a . in front of file/folder name eg: filename vs .filename

Yes I have tried that. I have also just discovered that if I remove the . in front of the filename it appears in Windows (as you'd expect), and then when I put the . back it stays visible (with the .).

Strange but it looks like this might be a solution.
