Undecided on rom...

So at the moment I've been using CM7...

There are so many problems I've been having and I'm getting sick of it. I'm not sure why a lot of people love it (sorry, don't mean to hate, I loved it in the beginning and thought it was so cool!)

I've been waiting for CM9 for a while, but thinking about all the problems I've had lately, I've been thinking about going with another rom that's a bit more stable...

I love how you can customize the phone with CM7, but can't any other rom? I'm sure there are a lot of themes going around that's pretty much compatible with the SGS2 itself...

The only thing I'm worried about if I change is the LED notification of texts and emails... I know there it can be implemented via rooting your phone. But I'm not sure if other roms automatically have it.

The main thing I'd probably just need the phone for is being able to play games (I bought some Gameloft games and I heard that CM7 can't run it with a working accelerometer for some reason...) working Bluetooth... functional camera... and the ability for the phone to last a bit more than 12-ish hours (this is without playing games and just texting...)

Any help would be much appreciated!

tl;dr I am starting to dislike CM7, can't wait for CM9 anymore... suggestions for new rom? Just want Bluetooth and longer-lasting battery...

I would go for checkrom revolution 6. Its stable and very customizable by using the Chevron kitchen. Backlight notification (bln) is compatible but you need to instal the bln app from the market. All the features which are on stock plus others work perfectly. You shouldn't have any problems with games either.

Thanks! Checkrom looks promising, but from what I read it's being run with XWLA4. I would like to try out ICS, but I can wait a while. :)

Just curious, do you know if any roms have a stable version of ICS running currently? Or I would just have to wait a bit more?

The most stable ics ROM seems to be AndyX. I haven't tried this as I can't live without custom kernels or jkay which aren't supported on any ics roms yet.

Thanks again! I've been eyeing AndyX and was debating whether I should try it or not. V6 just came out and I think I'm going to go for it... (Quick question if you don't mind, is a dalvik wipe mandatory? I recall installing CM7 without doing a dalvik wipe and it turned out fine)

I'll come back to CheckRom to check it out when a stable version of ICS comes out! I'm a noob with Android and I just recently started to fiddle around with it, so I'll give kernels a chance when I have more time!

Wiping dalvik isn't mandatory but it is highly recommended. There have been times when I forgot and had no problems but then other times I had all sorts of trouble. Wiping the dalvik should only take a few seconds so it's worthwhile doing. Those couple of seconds could save you a lot of time down the road.
