Help underclock cpu?

any way to do this for us non rooted 2.2 evo people?
it would be nice to have a way to preserve battery life when it's getting a lil low.

The processor is currently not always running at 100% with Froyo. It drops into the 600 range when idle. I don't think you will be able to change it unless you are rooted.

By design, the ARM processors, including the Snapdragon in our Evo, are designed to have multiple power states and clock down when underutilized -- this behavior predates Froyo. On my stock OS Evo, when idling I've seen the processor go as low as 250 Mhz.

how do you see this???
I have the app -- SystemPanel

There are two versions, Lite and Paid. If you like the Lite version, I highly recommend going for the paid, but it provides very good data about your Android use, including phone activity, battery consumption graphs, what programs are loaded into memory, available RAM and SD Card memory, and processor clock speed.
