understanding Swype

Learning Swype trickery: how to delete a word out of the Swype dictionary? The help doc says to highlight the word and then tap the Swype key. No, that's bringing up the word choice window. What am I doing wrong?

There are some strange words that you might think are misspells that are actually in the main dictionary and therefore cannot be deleted.
