Unified Daemon(EUR) using too much battery?

Like most everyone else, my battery life with the stock battery was great when I first switched over to kitkat 4.4.2. Then it slowly got worse and worse to the point of almost being dead after 9-10 hours of light use from a full charge.

I saw that the app Unified Daemon(EUR) was using a lot of data and using my GPS a lot throughout the day. So since my phone is rooted, I used Titanium Backup to freeze it. Rebooted the phone to see what other apps were going to crash because of it. Turned out nothing crashed. Everything still works.

So I kept it frozen for a couple days and now my battery life improved big time. After 9 hours I'm at 58%.

Unified Daemon(EUR) is used for news and stock widget updates. Since I don't use any of those, I guess that's why I didn't see any changes after freezing it... except more battery.
 
Still going strong on my battery life after about two weeks of the app being frozen.

I was going to buy a bigger battery but this just saved me a couple dollars.

Hello Bodycount, I too have a Note 3 but it is not rooted.
I feel rather dumb asking this but when you say you froze Unified Daemon(EUR)... where did you go to do that?
I've looked what i think is everywhere but no joy and no luck finding it.
I have gone to data usage and disabled background updates but i am interested in trying your solution as well.

FYI disabling or freezing this service kills the AccuWeather widget. it's part of the service that it uses to update and refresh itself. so those who use that widget or devices that require it (weather on the Gear watches) should leave it alone.

Disabling the service is built-in and does not require root.

Settings-->General tab-->application manager--all apps-->Unified Daemon(EUR)-->turn off

I turned this off... my battery is still draining, so I'd like to turn it back on and can't see how. I found it in my settings but I don't see anything allowing me to turn it on. ...and my battery is still draining! Any help you can give on how to turn it on and what other possible battery draining I can check would be appreciated.
 
I wonder if there is a way to adjust this service... I want to get weather updates on my Gear watch, but this service checks GPS every few seconds and drains my battery 1% a minute.

I had never seen this before, but it showed up three days ago, on my "battery doctor" app, staying it was using a LOT of my battery. The "battery doctor" app allowed me to force stop or disable. I force stopped it first to make sure that nothing I use was affected. Once I saw everything is fine, I disabled it. My battery is laying MUCH MUCH longer now...it's back to like new.

How to turn it back on again is built in, just pan one more Tab to the right in

Settings-->General tab-->application manager
past "All" to "Turned Off" click on "Unified Daemon(EUR)" and select "Turn on"

But like other users of this forum I would like a way of reducing the refreshing rate to use less battery.
