Root Uninstalled OTA update

Is there a way to delete a system update to my EVO that has not installed? My phone downloaded it, but battery was low so it said it could not update and will ask again when battery charged. I have read here that I need to keep the older version 2.3.3.

So is there a place on the phone that this is sitting...wiating to update that I can delete it.

Thanks.

Well...... first off, are you rooted? Are you planning on rooting?

If so, you should NEVER accept an OTA. Go into your phone update settings and uncheck the box that allows it to check for updates.

Rooting is MUCH easier on the old H-boots

+! Rooting 2.3.3 (hboot 2.16) is much easier than 2.3.5
(hboot 2.18)

If you want to take the plunge you will need to follow the rooting for dummies the GingerBread edition guide found here:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

Read the guide a few times until you understand it. Download all the files listed, and go for it. If you get confused or stuck, post back, we'll get you rolling. :)

Well it shouldnt do the update again without your consent, but since you already accidentally accepted it once I would try to get rooted in case it thinks it already has permission ;)

Rooting the old H-boot is a very simple process. Once you have it all downloaded your done in 15-20 mins and all the heavy lifting is done by a computer program

But my question was not about rooting. I mistakenly downloaded an update to my phone. It DID not install because battery was too low.

Is there a way to delete it from my phone BEFORE it installs?

Thanks

Not without root. It probably would download it to the system partition and you cant access that without root.

Thanks, I'll get the rooting process started tomorrow on a full charge and make sure not to install the downloaded update. After the root will the update go away? What happens to it. Don't want to get everything done and a damn updated kill it.

I'll check in tomorrow.

Well, ideally you would flash a new ROM once you get rooted for all the root only bells & whistles, and that will completely wipe it away.
