Uninstalling apps

Advanced task killer from the app store works great for stuff you've installed...

But i notice that preinstalled apps like tweet and footprints will not... and when I use ATK to shut them down they will restart automatically... any good way to uninstall/kill these for good?

Quick Uninstall from the Market seems to work great. There's also a way to do it from the phone. I have a HTC Eris running 1.5 so it might be different, but if you go to settings>applications>manage applications, you can uninstall, clear your cache, find info, etc.

Thats wild that you would go of your phone and do it remotely like that.. So anti windows and dealing with your own files and such on your own..

Worked great but going to be hard to get used to..

I just long press, pick up and hover the app I want removed over the garbage can icon on ADW.Launcher... and a bubble pops up that states "Drop To Uninstall"... then I drop it. :)

Alternately, if you don't want to add an app to your phone whose sole purpose is to uninstall apps that you don't want - which just seems wrong to me. ;)

Settings > applications > manage applications. Once the list is fully formed, which takes a couple of minutes, select the app you don't want and 'uninstall'.

to answer the original question...you cant.
or if you can, no one has been able to figure out how.

The apps that come with the phone, like footprint and visual voicemail, can only be removed if you are rooted. Check the root forum at the top of the page.

P.S. if you have the 2.1 OTA you can root using the same instructions as for 1.5. Seems like every third thread around here is asking this question so I thought I would throw it out there.
