Uninstalling Apps

I recently rooted and shabbymodded and being the clean freak I am started uninstalling apps. Upon thinking about it though, I'm hoping I did it correctly. I've only uninstalled 2 apps so far, zeam launcher and "email" but rather than using an uninstaller I just deleted the apks from the system/app folder. Now by doing this did I leave files behind?

No you did it fine. just remember not to go too crazy deleting files some are required.

yeah, I got a handle on it. Mostly just want to clean up my main menu apps folder so I don't have to scroll and scroll and scroll to find apps I want to use. Just want the few apps on here that I'll actually use and thats it. Which actually leads me to my next question.

I want to get rid of these apps.

latitude
maps
navigation
places (I believe I read somewhere if I install ANY of these gps will not be useable, such as for checking the weather and whatnot)

talk (I've heard it gives trouble with notifications but I'm just gonna try for the hell of it)
voice dialer (all I've read is that voice to text won't work, but since I won't have swype either it won't matter I should hope)
voice search (same as above)

and swype (I believe my phone will just revert to only using android keyboard?)

I know there's a thread for just this, and I'm just wanting verification for the gps and swype related stuff.

Yup ! If you uninstall the Google apps , you're gonna have problems ! Make sure that you make a backup of these in case you decide to go ahead with the uninstall .

I too have read that gps wont work properly, but I have never tried it.
the talk I thought that was required for phone calls, but could be wrong. You can get rid of swype, if you dont want it I personally couldnt do without it, though I use the new beta3 so much better.
I think the voice search can be gotten rid of. I got rid of the google search, the search key does nothing now but that doesnt bother me.
