uninstalling apps

I just bought a tablet. On the screen with all the pre installed apps listed it lists several apps such as amazon, amazon music, and amazon store and several other apps that I have no use for.
When I went to applications manager the apps were not listed. Are they hidden apps? How do I uninstall them?

On another note I accidentally removed the weather widget from my start up screen how do I get it back?

They are probably system apps that you can't remove without having root access.

Usually you can long press the screen get a menu and choose widgets. It would depend on what launcher your using though

Hope this helps :)

Also check to see that you are looking at all apps. Depending on the skin or version of Android it may be different how you choose, but the normal options are:
  • Installed - apps that you have downloaded and installed
  • Running - apps that are loaded into memory
  • All - Everything, including preinstalled apps, system apps, and Android components.
