Root Uninstalling ROM

Hey guys. Quick question. I unrooted my phone, now I need to uninstal Liberty 1.5. Im going to do a Wipe of my phone, so I can update it to Gingerbread, then im going to Re-root, and installed Liberty 2.0.

My question is, How do I uninstall Liberty? I cant find anywhere on my phone that gives me this option. Is there something I can do in Terminal? Or should i just do a Factory Reset. Running Droid X. Thanks!

Awesome. Done and Done. Thanks Aggie. Back to Stock, Downloading Gingerbread. Then its Root. and Liberty 2.0. Woo!

It looks amazing so far. However, Im noticeing that rooting GB isnt easy? I have to do something with Gingerbreak APK? So its not as easy as rooting Froyo? Am I correct?

Im still pretty new to all the Technical side of all this. I understand directions and usually dont have to read it twice to do what it's telling me to do, but as far as understanding WHY im doing it, Yeah, Im a noob on that side.

You need to install the 2 part update that can be found here. That's the only way to root the OTA GB. It cannot currently be rooted once already on it. If you have any questions just let us know. We can help you understand what's actually going on.

I appreciate that. So I currently have the Stock update to GB.

Android Version 2.3.3

System Version 4.5.596.MB810.Verison yadda yadda

Can I follow that 2 Step guide from there? Or should I do something else first?

Okay...wait a minute. GB is new. Froyo is not. So why would I go to 2.3.340 (Froyo) from 2.3.3 (GB)? Unless you just revered them on accident :P

You need to go to froyo so you can flash the pre-rooted GB. There isn't a way to root it when its already on your phone so flashing it pre-rooted is the only way.

Exactly, you have to SBF to froyo (2.3.340) to get to froyo. Then update to gingerbread so that its the pre-rooted version. You cannot root gingerbread unless you flash the prerooted one. So SBF to froyo, then do the 2-part install to gingerbread.

Then I flashed the deodex gingerbread (not sure if needed) then went to apex. Is liberty 2.0 even compatible with gingerbread .596?

Oohhh damn. That sucks. I love Liberty Rom. I was running Apex and it was causing too many problems. I switched to Liberty and I love it. What do you guys recommend I do since Liberty 2.0 is not compatible with GB. Should i give Apex another shot? I really liked some of the features that Liberty had, that Apex did not. But I would be willing to give it another go. Especially if what you say is true, in that Liberty 2.0 does not working with GB.

I would recommend
1-Using apex 2.0 RC2 that just got released
2-Waiting for CM4DX which will have a beta this week
3-Using LibertyV.07 I believe you must download the $5 app in the market to get it from the liberty donate toolbox... then install using droid 2 bootstrap (im sure you know how)

Indeed I do know how.
Again with my Terminology noobness though. Did you just recommend I install 3 seperate ROMs? Apex, Cryogen and Liberty? Or does Cryogen = Apex? Maybe I am misunderstanding what CM4DX is but that sounds like the latest release of Cryogen Mod. I appologize. You can go smoke a cigarette before getting back to this if you are frustrated, lol

Lol no problem I'm a moderator of a different forum so I deal with noobs all the time :)

Ok, you should just install one.

My favorite is apex. It is fast, and furious. Best battery life too

CM4X = cynogen mod for droid x. It'll be buggy for a while. Steer clear for now.

Liberty is fast, but drains battery and is still buggy. I would wait for Liberty 1.0 for droid x. Your welcome to use it though.

IMHO, the best rom for the droid x currently .596 gingerbread is this: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...v2-0-0-release-candidate-rc2-6-11-2011-a.html

I would use that till liberty 1.0 or CM4X releases a stable release.

To be honest. I think the stock .596 is a great place to be. No apex (until it's finished), no CM4DX (until it's finished), def no Liberty. ApeX is nice though. I just don't like the stock GB theme. I will wait until it's not in the RC stage anymore and create a motoblur theme for it.

I agree, stock is a great place to be.

Btw if you do want liberty, I haven't linked it here it is: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/liberty-rom-dx/151273-rom-liberty-gingerbread.html

So to get Stock Root .596, SBF to 3.3.340, then do the Two part installation method? Then im Gtg until a new version of either Apex, Cyogen or Liberty comes out?

That is correct! then you would just flash on top of GB the GB rom of your choice

When im ready :P I think I will take your guys advice and not install a ROM just yet. So do I need to rewipe again? Lol. I guess Ill just follow the steps and if in there it requires me to rewipe, then so be it :P Did you guys point me in the direction of the link to 3.3.340?

3.3.340? You mean 2.3.340? So you want the SBF file? http://bit.ly/hfp9iY

If you mean the new GB two parter then here: Official DX Gingerbread 2.3.3 (4.5.596) Release Thread - Something for everyone

And yeah, see how you like the stock GB first. It's really nice. And you don't have to wipe now. You will have to after an SBF. You DON'T have to upgrading to GB.
