Help United States milestone help!!!!!

my girlfriend just bought a Milestone from our local cellcom here in wisconsin. it seems that our cellcom wont update the phone to froyo. i have been searching all over for the past hour and have come up empty. i have a Droid from Verison and i have froyo and want to make her phone have froyo as well. i have NEVER rooted any phone so i'm a complete noob. i dont even know if hers is a GSM phone. mine is cdma i'm pretty sure.... well i want to know if we should wait and maybe the phone will update? or should i attempt to root her brand new phone?? please help!

Can you get AT&T 3G on the phone or not?


Also what's the exact model number?...

What's your build number?

settings->about phone->Build Number


It should start with "Shols"


If that's the original firmware out of the box and not changed by anyone, that build number should give you an idea of whether it's a European, Brazilian, or Canadian phone... (Once again assuming that the original firmware wasn't changed)
 
I am in Ohio, and have an Alltel Motorola Milestone A854 and would love to know how to root it and over clock it and anything else that there is out there for it to be better, I do not know how to go about all this or where to begin, if someone could please help me in the most easiest terminology and directions....

You have a CDMA Milestone and need to check in the Verizon Droid forum. Milestone roms do not work on the A854.
