Unknown Baseband

Ok so today I had some problems with my contacts list force closing if i tried adding to them so i decided to try reloading a back up using CWM. Once this loaded I still had the error and to boot it decided to fail to connect to my sim card. I looked in Info and under Baseband version it now reads UNKNOWN!

Will it be as simple as re flashing Villain Rom and latest update kernel and Modem?

Phone is as good as a brick to me right now.

Update: This post gives me some hope - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148322

Baseband is your modem so it may be as simple as just flashing a modem zip with cwm. If it doesn't work it won't do any harm. If that doesn't work then its probably best to reflash villain and start again.

Yeah the guy from Orange about to send me a new sim said , phone us if that doesnt work and we shall run a diagnostic... I said that wont help me my friend. This phone is beyond Orange now :P

Did you do a nandroid backup before trying to install your rom?

ive never come across nandroid in my life. I used cwm to back up.
I lost my baseband originally when restoring to an old restore point. When i went back to a later restore my baseband had gone. Ive since never been able to recover it.

Ok re flashed the original ORANGE firmware , still no baseband. My thinking is give up and send back to ORANGE under warranty. Thank god for that Orange KE2 firmware. still 2 months warranty left.

Yeah phone is under warranty and will be collected and replaced tomorrow. Lesson learned hard way. See my new post.

Not sure how connecting your phone to Kies fixed it, but there you go!

I have a feeling Kies would have only fixed this on an official setup.
Were you rooted or on unofficial firmware at the time?
