Help unknown sender?

my wife got a text this morning from "unknown sender" with no subject or text or anything... just an attached jpeg and shes scared to download it.

usually if she gets something from someone not in her contacts it pops up as their number, but we have never seen "unknown sender".. could it be a virus or a scam?

any thoughts?
 
I wouldn't chance it and just delete it. If it was from someone she knew, she'll find out eventually when they ask her what she thought of the pic.
 
Yup, I would just delete it. I heard there's a type of virus that duplicates itself and send it to random contacts.
 
I don't answer my home phone when it says unknown caller, so I sure wouldn't download a picture from unknown sender...
 
yeah thats about what i told her... "dont open it, i will ask on the forums"

its just weird because we both have the optimus V and both basically know the same people and i didnt get anything like that.
