Root Unlock Bootloader without Wipe?

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader to flash a custom recovery WITHOUT wiping the apps and data? This was possible with the E4G and E3D.

If not, since I am now rooted(thanks for the guide, went with zedomax), I would be able to retain apps and data with Titanium Backup or other backup programs, right?

If you were able to root with zedomax, that means you have the 1.12 HBOOT. That also means you can S-OFF with Lazy Panda, which will not wipe your phone data (though the potential does exist for your SD card data to be deleted, so be sure to back that up).

And yes, you would still be able to backup apps & data with Titanium Backup or another program, and then restore it after unlocking (if you were to use the HTCDev unlock, which there's absolutely no reason to do).

I haven't checked on the zedomax version in a little while. I'm not sure if he got his updated or not.

If it'll work on your hboot, then you can root and install TB or Mybackup to save your stuff without wiping. :)
